For Colin Zhu, DO, the decision to practice locum tenens was an opportunity to help more patients. After graduating from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic School and subsequently training in family practice in New Jersey and Connecticut, the 33-year-old opted to work throughout the country instead of settling down in one spot.

Being a traveling doctor also affords Zhu the flexibility to work on TheChefDoc, a YouTube channel aimed at inspiring people to improve their health through nutrition, as well as to speak nationally on topics such as "culinary medicine."
